Now they will be criminalised for entering their own forest and face fines if they cut a tree to build a pirogue ( traditional wooden canoe used for fishing), hence their<a href=\"http:\/\/www.andrewleestrust.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/meet-3-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-389\" src=\"http:\/\/www.andrewleestrust.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/meet-3--300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.andrewleestrust.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/meet-3--300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.andrewleestrust.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/meet-3--768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.andrewleestrust.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/meet-3--1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> livelihoods too are affected.<\/p>\n<p>The mining company is imposing these restrictions in order to claim the forest next to Antsotso as part of their Biodiversity Offsetting programme, a plan they claim will deliver a net positive impact to biodiversity in the region.
